SHORELINE NATURALIZATION PROGRAM
Establishing a natural, well-vegetated shoreline is an affordable and easy way that landowners can protect their shoreline from erosion and protect the water quality on our lakes and rivers. RVCA’s Shoreline Naturalization Program can help landowners naturalize their shoreline by providing everything from advice and guidance to full-service planting projects. Reminder that you need a fire permit for big brush burns only not camp fires (they are required from April 1st – October 31st). You can pick up your permit at the Municipal Office during their business hours. Permits for Saturday burning can be picked up on the Friday before. The permits are only good for the day of issue. Remember that you are still responsible for your fire even though you have a permit, so don’t burn in windy conditions.

The two website addresses announced earlier this week to order Rain Barrels in Smiths Falls and Westport are not fully prepared to accept online orders and prepayment. ON THESE TWO SITES, YOU CAN RESERVE YOUR RAIN BARREL, RECEIVE YOUR PICK UP RECEIPT AND THEN BRING CASH ON SALE DAY TO COMPLETE THE PURCHASE. Prepayment is not yet available.
The website address for the Manotick sale is fully functional taking preorders, prepayment by credit card and giving pick up receipts.
Our supplier, Rainbarrel.ca, is hoping to get the ordering wrinkles ironed out but cannot give us a date.
Rideau Valley Conservation Foundation and our community partners sincerely regret any inconvenience and frustration related to trying to order your Smiths Falls or Westport barrels in the last 48 hours. We hope you will stick with us through this rough patch and reserve your barrels online. Thank you!
