With so many of our European ancestors initially settling in Upper Canada/Canada West/Ontario many of us have been struggling to find the land records of our ancestors. However, before we can look up the land records we first have to figure out where the property is located.
Focusing primarily on rural lots, which many of our ancestors farmed, Ken McKinlay will guide us through using census enumerations and other records to hopefully overcome the challenges involved in finding the concession and lot numbers.
About our Speaker: Ken McKinlay’s foray into his family tree research started with three simple family stories that he wanted to confirm or refute. He has now been researching his family tree for over 18 years. He has given talks for several branches of the Ontario Ancestors, British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa, and the Ottawa Public Library. His talks generally focus on methodologies and providing the skills needed to help solve those brick wall problems.
