The Housing Assistance Program provides financial and non-financial assistance to eligible residents of Lanark County to get or keep affordable housing. HAP (Housing Assistance Program) is currently seeking low income applicants who have property tax, rental, and utility arrears, are at immediate risk of losing housing or are homeless.
Applicants may be eligible to receive assistance (up to $1,000 per calendar year) with:
- Rent deposits
- Utility arrears
- Rent/mortgage arrears
- Property tax arrears
- Wood (only heat source)
- Transportation
- Hygiene kits
- Food cards

*Be prepared for your appointment. You must provide the following documentation as part of the eligibility review process:
- Identification for all household members (valid birth certificates)
- Verification of income (pay stubs, Ontario Works / Ontario Disability Support Program)
- 30-day current bank statement showing present balance
- Documentation supporting requested funds such as hydro/utility bill, landlord letter regarding rental arrears or last month’s rent
