BACKGROUND
Recreational services are provided through several facilities. A Community Use Facility was added to the Township Municipal offices, at 1702 9th Line Beckwith, in 1995. This facility is actively used on a daily basis for recreation activities and meetings. In addition, the Township partnered with the Public Board of Education during the construction of the public school in 1988 enabling a 50% increase in the planned gymnasium size. As a result of the partnering agreement, the Township has evening use of the school gymnasium for recreation activities. A new outdoor Community Facility has been constructed at 1319 9th Line Beckwith just east of the school. As of June 2003, a lighted baseball diamond, unlighted baseball diamond, and soccer fields are available. In Spring 2003, a 50' x 100' coverall facility was constructed to permit indoor events to take place at the park. There are also additional passive community parks and a waterfront park, which is located in Lot 10, Concession 11 off of Younger Side Road and Catherine Avenue. In addition, through Joint Recreation agreements, residents of the study area have access to programs and facilities in the Towns of Carleton Place and Mississippi Mills such as the pool, canoe club and arenas.
The Township enjoys reciprocal use agreements with the Town of Carleton Place for various recreational facilities including the arena, pool and library. Beckwith Township residents are welcome to use these facilities.
