PROPERTY ASSESSMENT
Every four years, Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) updates the value of every property in the province as part of Ontario’s assessment cycle. In 2016, MPAC updated the assessed values of more than five million properties in Ontario. As of June 1st, 2023, we are still going off the phased-in values from the round of assessments dated January 1st, 2016. The next assessment cycle was to begin in January of 2020 but due to the global pandemic at the time, the assessment review was delayed.
When you receive your Property Assessment Notice, review it. No further action is required on your part unless you have questions or you disagree with your assessed value and/or classification.
At this time, we do not have an announcement from the Ontario government, nor MPAC with regards to when the next cycle of phase-in assessments will take place.
Your property assessment for the 2023 property tax year will remain the same as 2020-2022 tax years unless there have been changes to your property*.
If you have received a Property Assessment Notice, it is for your review only. No further action is required on your part. If you have questions, or you disagree with your assessed value and/or classification, please contact MPAC directly.
*Please note that MPAC has up to three years to perform assessment of a new build.
