BACKYARD COMPOSTING

Backyard composting is an outdoor activity involving the natural decomposition of organic materials, such as kitchen and yard waste, by soil organisms.  The Township of Beckwith has partnered with other Lanark County Municipalities to purchase composters in bulk and are selling them at cost.

BENEFITS:

Reduce the amount of garbage you generate by 25% or more. (By recycling and composting you can reduce the amount of garbage you generate up to 80%.)

Create wheelbarrows full of valuable compost to add to your garden, lawn, trees, shrubs and house plants.

The compost you generate will make your garden and lawn healthier, and less dependent on chemicals, fertilizers and watering.
